Mighty Narwhal Bled Dry by a Pack of Leeches - A Guest Editorial.

In the latest installment of the "War at Whitgift" on February 26, 2025, the South London Leeches finally broke their regular season curse against the WT Narwhals, securing a 12-9 victory. After years of trying, the parasitic worms out of South London finally broke skin.

The game started with a bang as the Leeches caught the Narwhals napping, driving into the pit and earning a 5-meter penalty within the first 10 seconds. After this early shock, the two teams traded goals, but neither could establish a meaningful lead. Going into halftime, the Leeches had a slight edge, but the game was still anybody's to win. The Narwhals' heavy-handed play led to 8 ejections and 3 penalties, a regrettable tactic in the close fought game and against a Leeches side who only conceded two majors.

By the third quarter, the Narwhals had finally garnered a one-goal lead after trailing in the first two quarters and were poised to end the quarter with the lead and momentum. But then, the Leeches' center forward tied the game, and chaos ensued. With little time left in the quarter, the goalies played hot potato in what amounted to the longest 20 seconds ever recorded. A Leeches forward seized the moment, forcing a contentious 5-meter penalty and sending the Narwhal keeper off with his third ejection. The Leeches converted, ending the quarter with a lead they never relinquished.

As the final whistle blew, the Leeches celebrated their hard-fought victory, having bled the mighty Narwhal dry.
